Facilitation

Facilitation centers on building trust and creating space to explore complex ideas to cultivate a greater capacity for critical thought and understanding. I can support your organization’s development in a broad sense by assessing needs and facilitating collaboration in designing and implementing organizational changes.

  • As a dedicated partner for teachers, I help them to understand what is happening in the classroom and provide them with classroom coaching using scientifically based best practices. Through an ongoing process of observation, feedback and dialogue, I support teachers to deepen their understanding and expertise in designing and delivering student-centered lessons that are aligned with relevant and rigorous standards to promote critical thinking and problem-solving; improve content knowledge and academic vocabulary development; and foster higher-order thinking skills such as analysis, synthesis.

  • As part of the collaborative, teacher-driven improvement process, I lead teacher teams in co-creating lessons and providing structures for critical reflection that inspires and motivates teacher quality and student engagement. I aim to create spaces that provide teachers with opportunities to collaborate and examine their practice regarding their student's needs and experiences, with an emphasis on culturally responsive pedagogy.

  • I work closely and thoughtfully to design meetings and experiences that leave people and communities transformed and inspired for the work ahead. Participatory workshops, healing retreats and unconferences are my specialties. By engaging participants in collaborative and creative activities that help define goals and identify issues, participants walk away with a deeper understanding of the issues facing their communities and a clear path forward.

  • I create deeply personal and relevant learning experiences that center identity, purpose, and community to transform both youth and school. This includes a specific focus on English language learners, Next Generation Science Standards, and cross-curricular topics and themes. Working in partnership with the school community and other community organizations, I support the development of authentic and meaningful opportunities for families and community members to engage in their children’s learning

  • I lead school and/or district teams to collaborate and grow together to improve outcomes in the instructional core. I help to build trusting relationships and networked improvement communities. This involves ongoing professional development and reflective thinking among team members that help them move their practices forward and build capacity over time.
